Melaura teaches all her private one on one lessons through the video conferencing platform "Google Meet". She communicates links, other materials and scheduling through the email connected to the form below. Current pricing aligns with industry standard pricing: $50/hr or $25/half hour and can be paid either through Paypal, Stripe(credit/debit) or e-transfer. Students will receive one on one instruction, guidance and some materials (although books may be recommended for some learners). Don't forget to tell your friends! Every time one of your friends sign up (and mention your referral), you will be eligible for a free lesson! A little about Melaura as a voice teacher:
Melaura has been singing since she can remember. From childhood onward, she was a songwriter, filling many books and cassette tapes with ideas. She partook in many choirs, shows and operettas as a teen, singing mostly soprano and testing through the Royal Conservatory. During her time in university, her heart returned to country primarily and danced through affairs with reggae, rock, rap and really anything that came her way. This led to a realization that her range was limited and she proceeded to learn alto and tenor on her own. Today she can sing comfortably in both alto and soprano and has helped many of her students accomplish the same. She currently sings with a Rock Choir (yes rock) in her spare time. These experiences give Melaura the openness to always try something new, encourage her students to do the same and put the effort and time into researching how to help them achieve their goals, no matter what they are. At the end of the day, singing is singing and Melaura's classical and broadway training give her the foundation principles to teach her students how to sing in any genre, in a healthy, successful manner. This same training allows Melaura to explore theoretical content, accompaniment and the basics of what is required of a traditionally trained singer. Melaura has also taught basic music history, marketing, performance skills, booking, recording, writing, resource acquisition and the list goes on. Student health, happiness, success and employability are important to Melaura, but what she wants most is to give every student a safe place to go when they need it, for her this is music.

Melaura is a classically trained pianist through the Royal Conservatory of Music, with over a decade of teaching experience with all ages and has recently completed her Masters in Environmental Education and Communication.
Her formal education gives her the background to understand the theoretical and technical requirements of any style of music and break it down into easy to learn pieces. However, in her quest to become Melaura, she has learned to apply many other unorthodox styles and combine knowledge from other instruments and genres. This gives her the ability to teach any style of music and it's theoretical basics, while allowing her students to pick their own project songs from the artists they love to listen to!

GUITAR
Beginner Guitar now available
Melaura is mostly self taught as a guitarist. She was always passionate about being able to play anywhere, but a piano simply can't go... anywhere and she was out of money for lessons, so she set out to learn guitar on her own. Using her knowledge of theroetical principles from her many Royal Conservatory and high school lessons in piano, voice and woodwinds, she purchased a few good books, spent thousands of hours on Google and Youtube to teach herself the instrument most central to her favourite genres. She is now proficient enough to feel confident sharing what she has spent years learning. Knowing where to look is half the battle, what is useful and what is not in the endless rabbit hole of the internet. Melaura wants to make sure you learn this amazing instrument as fast and easily as possible, ensuring you get to the fun stuff as soon as possible. She is able to teach introduction to both chord strumming and fingerpicking, giving her students the basics for any genre from Classical Spanish guitar playing to campfire songs.
