Melaura teaches all her private one on one lessons through the video conferencing platform "Google Meet". She communicates links, other materials and scheduling through the email connected to the form below.
Current pricing aligns with industry standard pricing: $50/hr or $25/half hour and can be paid either through Paypal, Stripe(credit/debit) or e-transfer. Students will receive one on one instruction, guidance and some materials (although books may be recommended for some learners).

Melaura as a teacher:
Melaura has taught music for well over a decade. Her education includes musical certificates through the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Masters in Environmental Education and Communication, a Bachelors in Psychology and a certificate in ADHD Training for Music Teachers. Studying a broad array of disciplines has given Melaura an unique teaching style backed by traditional methods. From childhood onward, she was a songwriter, filling many books and cassette tapes with ideas. Her experiences and instruments are just as varied as her education. She has taught and played many woodwinds and strings in all genres, to students of all ages and abilities for almost 2 decades.
Melaura has also taught basic music history, marketing, performance skills, booking, recording, writing, resource acquisition and the list goes on. Student health, happiness, success and employability are important to Melaura, but what she wants most is to give every student a safe place (music) to go when they need it.

A little about Melaura as a voice teacher:
Melaura has always sung. As a teen she partook in various choirs, shows and operettas, singing mostly soprano. Although her heart flirted with reggae, rock, rap and really anything that came her way, it was reminded country music is home. This prompted the need for Melaura to learn alto and tenor on her own. Today she can sing comfortably in many genres and voice ranges. She has helped many of her students accomplish the same. She currently sings with a Rock Choir (yes rock) in her spare time. These experiences give Melaura the openness to try new things (and allow her students to too!) and continually research how to help others achieve their goals, no matter what they are. At the end of the day, singing is singing, but Melaura's classical and broadway training give her the foundation principles, theoretical content and accompaniment skills to teach her students how to sing in any genre, in a healthy, successful manner.

Melaura is a classically trained pianist through the Royal Conservatory of Music, with over a decade of teaching experience with all ages and has recently completed her Masters in Environmental Education and Communication.
Her formal education gives her the background to understand the theoretical and technical requirements of any style of music and break it down into easy to learn pieces. However, in her quest to become Melaura, she has learned to apply many other unorthodox styles and combine knowledge from other instruments and genres. This gives her the ability to teach any style of music and it's theoretical basics, while allowing her students to pick their own project songs from the artists they love to listen to!
GUITAR

Melaura is passionate about being able to play anywhere, but a piano simply can't go... anywhere, so she set out to learn guitar. Using her knowledge of theroetical principles from her many Royal Conservatory and high school lessons in piano, voice and woodwinds, she purchased a few good books, spent hundreds of hours on Google and Youtube to teach herself the instrument most central to her favourite genres. She is now excited to share what she has spent years learning. Knowing where to look and what is useful is half the battle. Melaura wants to make sure you learn this amazing instrument as fast and easily as possible, ensuring you get to the fun stuff as soon as possible. Learn basic chord strumming and fingerpicking for any genre from Classical Spanish guitar playing to campfire songs.
UKULELE
Beginner Ukulele now available
After learning guitar and during a bit of a boom for the ukulele, Melaura decided it was time to try her hand at it. It’s beachy sound was perfect for her upbeat music because it just can’t be sad! Even more alluring, this instrument can travel in a case the size of a purse, making it very mobile and great for campfire strummers. Tuned differently than the guitar and missing two strings, the basic strum techniques are the same, but beware the other techniques and fingerings are different, this is not a mini guitar, but an entirely different instrument. This being said, it is much easier to learn one after learning the other. Try it for yourself, sign up above!
SAXOPHONE AND CLARINET

Do you want to play in school band? Or maybe just visit an open mic night and play some sweet solos for your friends. Melaura has played both instruments regularly for almost a decade and maintained her skills on them for nearly 25 years. She can take you from zero to hero!
